OMNIA HOLDINGS LIMITED

Omnia Holdings is listed on the JSE Limited in the Chemicals sector. It is a diversified, specialist chemical services company providing customised solutions in the chemicals, mining and agriculture markets and holds 90% of Omnia Group (Pty) Ltd.

SAKHILE INVESTMENTS

“Sakhile”, a black empowered company, acquired a 10% stake in Omnia Group (Pty) Ltd, effective 1 April 2008. Sakhile is 100% owned by Omnia’s employees, and provides a meaningful and sustainable transaction to embrace broad-based BEE in South Africa.

CHEMICALS

Protea Chemicals is a well-established distributor of speciality, functional and effect chemicals and polymers. The company has a broad footprint in Africa and represents a large number of domestic and international principals, many of whom are counted among the world’s leading chemical producers.

Protea Chemicals has a major presence in every sector of the broader chemical distribution market.

MINING

Omnia’s Mining division comprises BME and Protea Mining Chemicals, and offers a broad spectrum of services to the mining industry:

BME is a market leader in blended bulk explosives formulations for surface mines and manufactures packaged explosives for the underground explosives market and for specialised surface blasting. The division offers a world-class blasting consultancy service.

Protea Mining Chemicals offers value-added services to complement a wide range of chemical products to the mining industry.

AGRICULTURE

Omnia’s Agriculture division produces granular, liquid and speciality fertilizers. The division comprises Omnia Fertilizer and Omnia Specialities which are marketed to farmers as Omnia Nutriology®, a unique concept that holistically encompasses “the science of growing”.

The customer base is broad, comprising individual farmers, cooperatives and wholesalers throughout southern and east Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The division is exporting increasing volumes of speciality products to Europe, South America and Asia.The business has recently opened an office in Brazil.

The division also offers a range of specialised products and services that, as part of Omnia’s Nutriology® model, serve to optimise crop yields and quality. The market leader in southern Africa, the business unit sells to over 25 countries worldwide.

TRADING AND INVESTMENT

Omnia Group International (OGI) houses the Group’s investments in all operations outside South Africa. OGI trades chemicals, mining and fertilizer products into Africa and Australasia and acts as an importer for chemicals, explosives and fertilizer.
