Omnia’s agriculture division produces granular, liquid and speciality fertilizers. The division comprises Omnia Fertilizer and Omnia Specialities which are marketed to farmers as Omnia Nutriology®, a unique concept that holistically encompasses “the science of growing”.
Our customer base is broad, comprising individual farmers, cooperatives and wholesalers throughout southern and east Africa, Australia and New Zealand. We are exporting increasing volumes of speciality products to Europe, South America and Asia.

Fertilizer
Omnia Fertilizer produces dry, liquid and speciality fertilizers, and has production plants throughout South Africa. The division sells plant nutrition products directly to farmers as well as to cooperatives and wholesalers within South Africa. The business also supplies materials to the Omnia Fertilizer businesses outside South Africa, as well as to Omnia Specialities, BME and certain businesses in the Protea Chemicals stable.Omnia Fertilizer Africa manages exports into the rest of Africa from Johannesburg, as well as its own facilities in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi, and a joint venture in Angola. Omnia Zimbabwe operates a bulk blender, which supplies that market, supplemented by imports from South Africa. The Zimbabwean, Zambian, and Malawian operations have specialised divisions focusing on the needs of entrant farmers – an important developing market for Omnia. Omnia’s commitment to and investment in these regional markets over the last 20 years provides a significant competitive advantage.
Specialities
Omnia Specialities provides a range of specialised products and services targeted at creating value for farming customers. While traditional fertilizers replace the nutrients used by growing crops and make the soil fertile again for further cropping, speciality fertilizers are sophisticated compounds that optimise crop yields and quality.Micro-elements form the basis of a balanced nutritional regime for crops, which results in produce of more consistent quality. As consumer demands become more sophisticated, farmers have had to focus on growing produce that not only offers superior nutritional quality but is also more aesthetically pleasing and longer lasting. Speciality fertilizers are an essential component of growing produce to match these expectations. The Micro-elements provided by speciality products can also help reduce the need for artificial additives such as colorants, pesticides and herbicides.
Omnia Specialities has the largest share of the southern African market and sells to over 25 countries across the world. Omnia Specialities differentiates Omnia’s Nutriology® offering and provides the spearhead for its international strategy, allowing the Group to break in to key agricultural markets such as New Zealand, Australia and Latin America. Omnia Specialities has established itself as a leader in diagnostic technology with the OmniSap® offering. The division has [service centres] outside Africa to enable the division to provide these services to international clients. This business now also offers OmniSap® technology in Australia. Omnia Specialities aims to offer OmniSap® in Brazil. Brazil is considered an important target market, second only to China in terms of agronomic output.
